Computer-Based Intervention
For the past 12 years, Ms. Herskowitz has been utilizing computer-based intervention (CBI) with individuals on the autism spectrum. As a speech pathologist and mother to a son with autism, she has found that CBI greatly enhances the acquisition of many skills in the areas of speech and language, social/pragmatics, auditory processing, reading, math, and lifeskils. Research has shown that using CBI often is more effective than traditional skill-training methods for children with autism.
The software products that she recommends are not available in stores as they are specially-designed for the special needs populations. Because there are so many programs to choose from, families and professionals are often confused about which ones should be used with their family member or student. As a specialist in this area, Ms Herskowitz uses her Prescriptive Software™ method to assist in the selection process. Through a simple telephone consultation or e-mail correspondences, she is able to recommend one or several products. After the programs have been received, subsequent training consultations are available.
